American comedian Theo Von had a big bet on a college football game between Vanderbilt and South Carolina in September. Rather than betting money though, Von had a date on the line.
In a clip of the game’s broadcast in September, Nashville-resident Von explained to a reporter that Vanderbilt Quarterback Diego Pavia promised him a date with his mom if his team won the game. “She’s a nurse, and my goal is I would like to marry a nurse one day, so that’s why,” Von explained on air.
Vanderbilt did in fact win that game 31-7, but even before the end of the game it seemed Von was getting cold feet about the date because of his friendship with Pavia. “I don’t know, I like being his friend, I don’t want to end up being like his stepdad or something,” he explained to the broadcasters, adding: “We’ll see what happens.”

Now, weeks later, it appears Pavia may have kept his promise to Von. Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson recently video-called Pavia as part of their Nightcap sports podcast, and who appeared in the background other than Von, spending time at Pavia’s house.
The two are supposedly good friends, so it is no surprise Von was hanging out with the in-form QB, but it was the appearance of Pavia’s mom that got tongues wagging. Von draped his arm around his mom before trading some jokes back and forth with the podcast hosts, although neither mentioned the bet:
