Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen (Swedish Gambling Authority, SGA), has announced new supervisory measures for Svenska Spel’s land-based gaming venues.
The authority confirmed that it will conduct a full review of the operator’s physical gaming locations, focusing on turnover monitoring and the placement of cash dispensers. The process will involve on-site inspections as well as the submission of formal documentation by Svenska Spel. Findings from the review will be published at a later stage.
This announcement comes shortly after the SGA issued a SEK 4.8m ($0.5m) fine to Kanon Gaming for breaches of player protection obligations. Meanwhile, the regulator has also confirmed the departure of its long-serving Director General, Camilla Rosenberg, who steps down after eight years in the role.
Camilla Rosenberg, former Director General at SGA, mentioned:
Being able to help lead the Swedish Gambling Authority through this transformation has been both intense and educational. As a public authority, we have achieved a lot in a short time, not least thanks to the broad expertise the authority possesses.
The Swedish Gambling Authority is a small authority in a big world and my time at the Swedish Gambling Authority has been revolutionary, intense and fun – at the same time. I am now looking forward to trying something new as the new director and head of the Swedish Estate Agents Inspectorate, and I bring with me all the experiences from my time at the Swedish Gambling Authority. The lessons learned from here are invaluable.
